You’ll Love This Staffy’s Story of Second Chances

Last week I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Violet — a gorgeous, three-year-old Blue Staffy who brought attitude and energy to her photo session, here in Sunbury.

Violet’s story is one of resilience, love, and second chances. She was born with a shortened front leg and no tail, and at just one week old, she was brought into a Melbourne vet clinic to be euthanised. But fate had other plans.

One of the vets at the clinic, knowing that their friend Gloria (also a vet) had recently lost her beloved Staffy, convinced the breeder to surrender Violet instead. The moment Gloria saw Violet, it was love at first sight and their bond has been unshakeable ever since.

Gloria bottle-fed Violet around the clock, and though her start to life wasn’t ideal, her immune system still needs a little extra care, Violet is now living her best life. She’s confident, cheeky, deeply loved, and very much her own person.

It’s clear that Violet’s differences don’t define her, they make her all the more special.

As a professional pet photographer based in Sunbury, Victoria, I’ve photographed a lot of incredible dogs, but watching Gloria and Violet together was something special. The love, respect, and understanding between them was so genuine. If only every dog had an advocate like Gloria in their corner.

Violet’s pet photography session was part of a recent creative challenge, and she totally rocked it. We captured a mix of soulful, expressive and vibrant portraits that show who she really is — strength, sass and all.
