If you’ve been following along for a while, you’ll know that I’m creating my very own pet photography studio.

It’s been a dream for a long time and after years of sketching ideas, collecting inspiration and talking about it endlessly, it’s finally starting to become a reality.

While I’m fortunate to currently work from a beautiful studio space, having a dedicated pet photography studio of my own will allow me to create an environment designed specifically with animals and the people who love them in mind.

Some animals walk into a new environment and immediately make themselves at home, while others need a bit more time. They may want to sniff around, enjoy a few treats and work out where they are and who everyone is before they feel comfortable enough to relax. That’s totally normal.

The layout, furnishings, lighting and flow of the space are all being planned to support a wide range of pets and personalities. The goal is to create a studio that feels calm, welcoming and comfortable, while still being practical for portrait sessions.

One of the biggest advantages of having a dedicated pet photography studio is that sessions won’t be at the mercy of Melbourne’s weather. Whether it’s pouring with rain, blowing a gale or unexpectedly freezing, we’ll still have a comfortable environment in which to create beautiful portraits and artwork.

When pets feel comfortable, their personalities naturally start to shine through. It’s those little quirks, expressions and moments of connection that people often treasure most in their finished artwork.

The studio is still very much a work in progress, but it’s exciting to see the vision beginning to take shape.

I can’t wait to welcome both new and returning clients once it’s complete.
