I’m excited to share a project I’ve been working on and preparing behind the scenes.

Dear Dog is a photographic book project that celebrates the connection people share with their dogs.

For many people, that connection is one of the most important relationships in their lives. A steady companion, and a relationship that’s hard to compare to anything else. It looks different for everyone, shaped by daily life, shared experiences, and the way our dogs become part of who we are. This project exists to recognise that connection as meaningful, authentic, and worthy of being seen.

The book will feature a collection of studio portraits of dogs, with the option for their humans to be included in some of the images. Alongside the portraits, the book will include personal written reflections from dog parents, sharing what their dog means to them and why that connection matters.

The idea for Dear Dog began last year when I met Violet and her human, Gloria. Seeing the connection that Gloria and Violet share made me start thinking about how many people carry this same kind of relationship with their dog, and how rarely it’s acknowledged in a meaningful way.

Participants in the project will receive a studio pet portrait session and a fine art matted portrait. A participation fee of $55 applies, with 100 percent of that amount donated to Starting Over Dog Rescue, supporting the care and rehoming of dogs in need.

Dear Dog is a celebration of life with dogs, and a way to acknowledge the connection we share with them.
